Zara Twaij

I have completed my degree in French and International Relations at Coventry University for four years including the year abroad at Sciences Po Bordeaux University in France for one academic year. This has culminated in obtaining the degree BA Honours with one year abroad. I aspire to enter the industry of interpretation and translation to further my education having studied French and International Relations I have gained the skills and knowledge needed in order to pursue my career prospects. Through this experience I built up my knowledge and level of French considerably through many aspects of my study. This module gave me an insight into how International Relations plays an important role in today's society such as reviewing current affairs and global issues that take place today. My passion lies with making my future in the translation industry as I have a desire to develop my French further and explore relationships between both language and how it enables effective communication around the world as I believe that a course like this places communication at its heart and has a vital place in the modern world. My year abroad module was the highlight of my university degree and German advantage module.

My dissertation title: Obstacles met by women in leadership in politics today in France and key women who overcame these issues. The aim is to portray the underrepresentation of women in all sectors especially in politics as it's an ongoing problem for equality and breaking stereotypes which are embedded in society. It's about women and the differences in leadership styles compared to men at the workplace and higher ranks in politics in France and the challenges that women face preventing them from climbing the corporate ladder 'glass ceiling'. This dissertation highlights key influential figures who are overcoming these obstacles .
