Krista Brown

BA (Hons) Fine Art

Watercolour and ink painting. Created on cotton canvas.

My practice is mainly based around films, cinema and the suggestion of narrative. Taking certain moments in time from classic films and representing them through abstraction and my own language of drawing. This interest in exploring films and specific narratives stems from my deep curiosity towards characters – a person's character, including; their soul, actions, thoughts, and feelings. I've also always been drawn to the darkness and sentimentality within certain films, which tend to induce a feeling of overwhelming emotions through the story's characters and the audience.

I enjoy working with dry-based materials, such as charcoal and chalk, fine liner/pens, and most recently ink and pastels. These enable me to create more loose, gestural, and expressive types of images.
