Alivia Goldhill

BA (Hons) Fine Art

Pom Pom Head

Alivia's work has two functions, the first being replicating the qualities of online communication into physical space through the creation of head barriers that disrupt regular communications. The second function of her work is to provide momentary relief from the social spectacle through the formation of interpersonal connections between the users of the sculptures - creating a social sphere away from technology.

Alivia is exploring concerns involving the development of the social spectacle, causing society to become provisionally stimulated by digital formats creating inauthentic bonds. Online people live a simulation of their own life, consequently, creating a simulation of social bonds. Alivia's practice acts as a tool to create a reformed human consciousness and 'genuine' social bonds as a way to think through ideas of co-existence between simulated life and real experiences. This has been vital with most interactions moving online due to the coronavirus.

Continuing her social practice, Alivia will be starting a MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins starting October 2021.
