Zhenpeng Su

BA (Hons) Illustration and Animation

Hello, this is Su Zhenpeng, you can also call me Jimmy.
I am a 2D character artist, illustrator and comic artist in China. I am very passionate about creating characters, worldviews and funny comics and illustrations. When I was a kid, I was ignited by the characters I wanted to create in movies, comics, and games. So I try to copy some comics or illustrations with a paintbrush. Although it was originally a hobby, after all this time, I still do it. After graduating from university, I participated in game art competitions and comics creation competitions held in China, and achieved good results, which also encouraged me to continue working hard for my career.
Although most painters now use digital methods for drawing, I still insist on using pencil to complete the line drafts. I learned this habit from an American cartoonist. I think this creative method will make the line drafts more interesting and more textured. But in terms of color, I still use Photoshop because it is easier to modify images. In fact, like most artists, I will continue to explore and learn, and this process will never stop.

The world's best writers and artists work together to produce the best artwork, which is a comic book.
This is my final design project in the third year. The project focuses on character concept art, and the name is "Decisive Battle Ain Jalu". This character was a Mongolian general in the Middle Ages and was called "Khan"
Mongolian twin brothers, brave fighters who like to wrestle
This is an illustration that I created for myself and many Asian international students during the period of COVID-19 in 2020. The character in the painting called "AHYO" is a dragon. The illustration depicts a scene of the life of an international student in a rented house.
GET OUT–This illustration depicts the discrimination that Asian international students are facing during the COVID-19 period. The people in the painting attack AHYO with water cannons filled with wine because they think AHYO from the ocean has brought the virus.
BACK HOME–This illustration depicts Asian students who want to return to their home country but are discriminated against by their compatriots. The AHYO in the painting wants to return to the ocean but is rejected by the mermaid of the same race.
