Daria Pietruczynik
BSc (Hons) Architecture

My name is Daria Pietruczynik. While originally from Poland I have already had an opportunity to live in a few European countries. Apart from studying in Great Britain, I've also spent a year at Universidad Europea de Madrid, living in the heart of the beautiful Spanish capital. Both of these experiences allowed me to develop personally, and as an aspiring architect.
In architecture, my main focus is on human experience and democratic design. I believe that a bottom-up, egalitarian approach to architecture and urbanism helps to understand people, and therefore create happier cities where everyone feels welcome. Giving communities the autonomy to design and transform their environments with the help of professionals, encourages the curation of inclusive spaces, which accommodate the specific needs and desires of local people.
Medialab Arches is about embracing the history of the industrial Coventry and its hard-working labour communities, while looking into the future of manufacturing. It's about regaining the space and recognition which the heavy industry has stripped from the local citizens, when it pushed people's needs and ambitions aside. It's about reminding these communities and everyone around them that people are the strength and the backbone of any successful enterprise. And finally, it's about supporting the local artisans in pursuing their own careers while promoting sustainable manufacturing.
