In an age where our lives are dominated by always-connected smart devices many people are fascinated by all things analogue and 'old-fashioned', this has lead to a recent boom in vinyl records, film photography, and retro video games.
Darkroom printing has the potential to join this boom, but is held back by confusing, outdated equipment. Agrandir aims to solve this by presenting a contemporary enlarger, designed with the young, spatially-conscious user in mind. Agrandir is a 35mm black and white photographic enlarger that can be folded away, increasing portability and reducing space consumed when not in use.
During my 3rd year of university I worked as an intern at Rotterdam-based design studio REM Atelier. This opportunity saw me work on projects displayed at Dutch Design Week and Rotterdam's Maasstad Hospital, and taught me a great deal, especially about working in a small design team to create hand-crafted items.
