I am Jacob Adlam a media top-up student at Coventry University and specialize in photography this is my FMP the absence of people. A project about showing how the lockdown and pandemic caused the outside world and town to feel empty and void of people but I also wanted to give it a hopeful tone so took pictures showing people coming outside again and the world slowly getting back to normal, so to convey this I thought the best method was to do before and after shots, so it gives you a comparison. I only got to this stage and going through multiple attempts at trying to convey the absence of people and found it was a very hard subject to do as it can be misunderstood for multiple things, like littering for example as one of my ideas was leaving objects around but it didn't get across the feeling of absence. I choose to base it on current events as I feel it makes it more interesting and has more to say that way and because we have all been through this everyone will be able to connect with the work and take something away from it and hopefully the second images of the sets will lift them up knowing things are starting to get back to normal.
