I found the collaborative aspect of the work very stimulating and creatively open as it was easier to make ideas become reality’ since we had more people working on one thing. Not only this, but this also gave me invaluable experiences and connections which may help me in the future through my career. Although, I feel like collaborative work for an assessment does not showcase my learning and skillset as appropriately as it would for solo work as I would have to manage around others. But this is not a major set-back, just a consideration for showcasing one’s learning. The partners I worked with though, were exceptional and we all put in a lot of effort to each project. We kept to scheduled meetings and progressed steadily till the deadline. I really enjoyed working with ‘strangers, but we found it hard to produce a high-quality animated movie with students we couldn’t physically work together in person as we had to import everyone’s different part and import it all into Premiere Pro and do the best we could.

The experience was extremely challenging, yet really fun. Despite spending this entire semester in lockdown, teams was a good place to plan & communicate but some ideas was extremely hard to get across & still unsure whether this was cultural or our limited face to face contact. But despite this, we produced what I believe is unbelievable work in the current circumstance & thankful for this great opportunity which we made new friends.

Overall, the experience of COIL was unique. I’ve never worked with people from different countries before, so this was a good way to experience this. Even though there were challenges with this module, those who I worked with took the assignment seriously and inputted their best abilities into the animation and Processing. As well as this, I have learnt new skills through multiple software and have gained a deeper understanding on what goes through animation and coding. These are skills that I will be using in the future and definitely will be putting this experience on my CV.

The experience working with student from TKH, Egypt is memorable and fun. It’s my pleasure to complete a collaborative project with Basmalla and Amina. Especially Basmalla, she’s really a great student with clear mindset and wonderful ideas! Although we’re from different countries, but I don’t find any gap between us and we can talk comfortably.

A total of 9 short animations were produced by 9 teams. Each team consisted of 4-6 students from CU and TKH.
