Remayah Skeen

My passion for sociology and criminology helped to inspire the exploration of the topic discussed throughout my dissertation. I thoroughly enjoy looking at the social aspects of life and being able to identify social and political issues. This project showcases my work done for the basis of my dissertation on the topic of Adultification bias relating to the experience of young black girls within the UK. This is a matter that is hardly recognised within British literature and therefore my aim was to shed light on the concept and allow others to further expand on the research I have done. This is something that I have experienced myself which I was not able to recognise until my adult life. Therefore, I want to allow young black girls to have the opportunity to understand how their intersectionality of race and gender causes their experiences to differ from others. Following on from this project, I intend to further my understanding by doing further research which can add to my portfolio of sociological work. I look forward to pursuing my passion for this course in the real world and hope to be successful in spreading awareness of current issues.
