Marviner Etienne Regis
Sociology

I'm Marviner and I am graduating in Sociology. I have always been interested in people and society as a whole, and studying Sociology in sixth form led me onto studying this further in university. This course has been intriguing, and has contributed towards my current occupation in education, allowing me to develop new skills and strengths for my future career path.
There are many songs about sexual orientation, race, gender etc but when we think of disability, there are a lack of music videos that display visibly disabled people. The lack of representation highlights there is a difference between those that are abled bodied and those that are disabled.
The prejudice of disability is not just interpersonal, it is also implicit in cultural representation, they are seen as the other because their impairment represents physicality of human existence, they are seen as the enemy alongside Black people because they differ from the rest (Shakespeare 1994).
